Taking a cooking class in Bali is a great way to experience the island in a different way, food is deeply a part of the Balinese culture.
Last week, I decided to test for you a Balinese cooking class in Ubud.
We began the activity with a food tour in the traditional market of Ubud : so interesting to discover the different spices and vegetables:
After that, we joined the kitchen team for this fascinating cultural workshop. The teacher was very enthusiastic and friendly. She explained us everything and she introduce us the 6 recipes that we are going to prepare.
The instructor guided us through the process of preparing a Base Gede, the local sauce, after that a Tempe Manis, then a Tahu Guling Telor, a Bergedel, a Gado Gado and we finished by preparing a delicious Bali Pancake.
All along the cooking class, one by one, we were making the recipes and we were eating what we prepared. They gave us rice and teriyaki sauce aside the main courses. So delicious ! Especially the Tempe Manis and the Pancake !
They also gave us a nice book of recipes so we can duplicate the recipes in our own kitchen.
